I LOVE this guy's face and it made me laugh, so I had to share him with you! 😂 Can you believe we only have 2 weeks of school left? What a strange Spring it has been! 
Because we are getting closer to July 1st and that's CANADA DAY, I thought we should focus this week on learning more about the country in which we live. It's going to be 
                  CANADA WEEK!

WRITING - in your notebook, make a list of 20+ Canadian things or famous people that you know of. Remember that people's names need to start with capital letters.  

You can get ideas from your own brain, from family members, from videos you have watched or books you have read.

MATH - here are your practice sheets with a review of counting Canadian money.

Remember... always start with the coins that are worth the most:  count the toonies ( $2.00) and loonies ($1.00) first. Then put the . between the dollars and cents. 

Next count the quarters (25¢), then dimes (10¢), and then nickels (5¢) no matter what order the coins are shown.

Last week I noticed there weren't many people checking the Blog on Thursday and Friday, so for this week and next week I'll be doing a Combo Blog - all your work jobs for those 2 days will be on Thursday, but you have both days to get them done. I know it's getting to the end of the school year, so I'll try to not make your jobs too tough or boring! 😊

Writing and Word Work: 

#1) Finish your Plurals sentences (using all 20 words) and send them to me to read.

#2) Your Word Work for our Tuesday Zoom next week is ANTONYMS ( opposites). I would like you to make a list of 20 antonyms and bring it to our Zoom so we can make a giant list of them.

( *Remember to 'carry to the next column' when you need to!) Please do these questions in your notebook and remember to NEATLY line up the numbers in each column so that your hundreds, tens and ones are in the right places. You can also be practicing and reviewing by doing work in your Math duotang.

Division is our Math again for today. I hope you are feeling more confident about how multiplication X and division  ÷ work together.

Please practice by doing these FACT FAMILIES in your notebook, like this:

Example:    If your family of numbers is   4 ,  2 ,  8
                                     
                                      4 x 2 = 8
                                      2 x 4 = 8
                                      8 ÷ 4 = 2

                                      8 ÷ 2 = 4

MATH

The kids who came to school on Thursday and Friday last week were JUST STARTING their multiplication work, so if you have been checking here each day and have moved on to division work, you are way ahead! Good job! 

We're going to continue working on Multiplication and Division Families. Remember that they are COUSINS - they do opposite things, but you can use the same numbers in one 'family' to make both kinds of questions. 

In your notebook, do 2 multiplication sentences and 2 division sentences for each Family of 3 numbers shown. Look and see what 3 numbers are in the 'family' and ALWAYS START WITH the BIGGEST NUMBER WHEN YOU DIVIDE!

example: FAMILY NUMBERS -  4    3   12 start with the biggest number when you do division.

Writing and Word Work

This week you will have a Writing job and a Word Work job, but they will go together and I would like you to be finished and send it to me by Friday. Each day ( Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) I will give you a new part to do, so check and see.

Before Spring break we learned about PLURALS( making words mean more than one). We learned about the rules that we follow to make different words PLURAL. Examples

Finally Friday!

        It's nearly the weekend... again! Can you believe it? 
I hope everyone is feeling good and staying happy. This week you had some new things to work on ( Mr.Lloyd's letter) and learn (division) so today you should make sure those are all caught up. You also have a list of HOMOPHONES to do for the Zoom on Tuesday so please remember to write those in your notebook too. 😊

Math - We are doing more practice with Multiplication and Division families today. I hope you are seeing how a 'family' of 3 numbers can make both X facts and ÷ facts.    
Example:    If your family of numbers is   4 ,  2 ,  8
                                            
                                      4 x 2 = 8
                                      2 x 4 = 8
                                      8 ÷ 4 = 2
                                      8 ÷ 2 = 4

Try these ones and see how well you understand so far:

When you multiply (X), the biggest number in the family should be your answer              2 X 6 = 12
                                                     6 x 2 = 12
When you divide (÷) the biggest number is what you start with                                              12 ÷ 2 = 6
                                                     12 ÷ 6 = 2

Monarch Butterfly Art 
If you like to draw, here is an awesome step-by-step video of how to draw a Monarch butterfly. You just need a white paper and a pencil. They use a black marker in the video, but I'd suggest drawing it FIRST with pencil and SECOND with marker, just in case you need to fix any mistakes. 
I'd LOVE to see any finished butterflies at our Zooms next week! 🦋
