Happy Thursday!

               Happy Thursday Everyone!

It's Zoom Day again already and I'm excited to see you all! Please remember to bring your small YELLOW CLOCK
so we can practice telling time together. If you haven't been working on the TIME section in our Math duotang yet, please start that today. And the little video below is really helpful to understand the ideas of :
    ___ o'clock  ðŸ•”
half-past ___
      quarter past ___
   quarter to ___

WATCH THE VIDEO RIGHT NOW PLEASE!

_________________________________________________________________________________

After you finish your Math today, please make sure you do at least 20 minutes of reading. This could be on Raz-Kids, Scholastic Learn at Home, Epic Books or your own books at home. Try to always choose a GOOD FIT BOOK - not too hard, but not too easy and read to an adult so you can practice reading smoothly and with expression.

I'm really looking forward to getting your e-mails and letters today or tomorrow. If you didn't check the Blog on Wednesday (yesterday) please go back and look at the writing task this week. And if you REALLY need the weekend to get it finished, your adult can message me and let me know, but I will be checking this work task off as I get them so please don't forget

_______________________________________
Remember... your jobs today are:

✅Work on Telling Time pages in Math book
✅Read to an Adult for 20 minutes+
✅Write an email or letter to Mrs. B telling about how you're feeling and what you've been doing with your family. Send me by e-mail ( your adult can take a picture and send) this by Friday at 3:00 or have your adult message me if you need the weekend to finish it.

Have a fabulous Thursday! 😊💙😊💜😊

'Write to Me' Wednesday

Happy Wednesday my little Worker Bees! Have I told you lately how much I miss you guys? Well... I do! ALOT!

So... I would really love it if you wrote me an e-mail  ( lbymoen@sd73.bc.ca) or a little note or a letter ( maybe your adult could take a picture of it and email it to me).  You can write it in your notebook or on a different piece of paper or just on the computer.

I'd love to hear about how you're feeling and what you've been doing at home. I've written a little letter to you to show you how to set your letter up.  Try to include the 5 parts in your letter to me.

Heading :     Print the date on the top right side.

Greeting :     Start with Dear [name]
,
Body :           Write your message in good sentences with interesting details.

Closing:       This is how you end your letter.  Some closings are:

Best wishes, or From, or Sincerely yours, or Take care,

Signature:    Sign your name underneath the closing

Dear Super Star Student,

Did you know that I love spending time in the beautiful outdoors? A few days ago I went for a bike ride with my husband and my 20 year old son Josh (who is really tall).  The sun was shining and there was a warm breeze. On our bike ride we rode along by the river and saw several birds. One had bright blue feathers and seemed to be watching us closely. I wonder if it had a nest of eggs nearby?
On the way home, I was wondering what YOU have been up to. I miss hearing about your days and am wondering what activities you have been doing? This week I want you to choose something fun to do with your family and then write me a letter about it. Pick a day that works for your family. I am excited to hear back from you! Please send your letter to me by e-mail.

Thinking of you with a smile,
Mrs. B 💗.

I can't wait to get your letters! Please try to e-mail them to me by Friday afternoon so I can read them and write back to you. If you need the weekend to finish it, please ask your adult to message me and let me know.😊

Remember to: Read to your Adult for 15-20 minutes and do at least 20 minutes of Math (*Telling Time* practice sheets in your duotang book) today too.

Telling Time on Tuesday

                                                IT'S TIME TO TELL TIME!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to Zoom with me today! Please bring your little yellow clock (if you have one). We'll practice telling time to the hour
( eg. 7 o'clock or 7:00 ) and the half hour ( eg. half past 4 or 4: 30 ).

After we go over it together, you can practice in your Math duotang that you got this week. It's the section after the  orange page. You can also practice on Prodigy and Mathletics.

I'd love to hear about what you're doing.
Write me an e-mail to lbymoen@sd73.bc.ca and tell me what you're reading or learning.

Just because April 22 is over, it doesn't mean we stop looking after our Earth. Here are some excellent ideas to make EVERY DAY Earth Day. Talk to your family about what things you're already doing and what new ideas you might be able to try.

***Here's another activity that I think you'll like. It focuses on KINDNESS - to our planet, each other and animals. I know you all LOVE to show KINDNESS, so read the ideas and see how many you can do in the next while. If you don't have a pet, maybe you can make a BEE WATERING STATION  instead, like I've described underneath this poster.

BEE WATERING STATION

Spring is here and with the warm weather comes the return of the bees. Bees are so very important to humans. Without them as pollinators, many of our foods and flowers would not grow.

Creating bee watering stations is an easy and fun project that helps our bee friends by providing them with a safe place to land and get the water they need.

Have fun today with your Earth Day activity book and keep doing your Read to an Adult and your Math (in your new duotang if you got one from school today) or on Prodigy / Mathletics.

Today might be a good day to check out National Geographic for Kids too (under the Learning Links) and see what else you can learn about our beautiful planet.

If you haven't shared your Message to Earth yet, I hope you will share your writing and picture with us on our ZOOM tomorrow. The messages that Josie, Julia, Jax, Adalia, Jaxon and Tommy shared with us on Tuesday were fabulous!

Here is the other part of the book we read yesterday on our Zoom. It's called Dear Children of the Earth. I hope you love the beautiful pictures and the message.

Message the Earth Monday

Earth Day 2020 | Framingham Public Library

This Wednesday is Earth Day and although we, as humans, are having a hard time right now... I think the Earth and the animals are celebrating! The air and sky, the oceans and lakes, the whole planet is getting a rest from the pollution and stress it usually feels.

Things will get better again for us. Hopefully it won't be too long before we will be able to spend time with our friends and neighbours, cousins and grandparents. But wouldn't it be WONDERFUL if, when our lives get back to 'normal', we all remember to keep taking of our Earth and not let everything go back to exactly the way it was before?

For our ZOOM tomorrow, I would love for you to write a message to our planet telling what you hope will happen when our lives return to 'normal'. How do you hope people will treat the Earth? What can we do to show our planet that we want it to stay healthy? Try to include at least 5 sentences in your message. I hope you will bring your Earth message  and share it at our ZOOM. If you want to draw and colour an Earth day picture, that would be awesome too!

example:
Dear Earth,

P.S. DON'T FORGET TO READ AND DO SOME MATH TODAY!!

Fun and Fit Friday!

Happy Friday Everybody! Wasn't it a beautiful warm day yesterday? After my school work was done, I went for a 27 km bike ride and it felt great to be active!
Are all of YOU finding some fun ways to stay fit and have fun? I'm including a list of things you might want to try, especially now that the Spring weather has really arrived. I know you can't go to school playgrounds or parks right now, but hopefully you can do some of these in your yard, on your driveway or in an open area of your home.

Telling Time Thursday

We all know how to read digital time, like on a cell phone, the microwave or a clock radio. But can you read THIS clock below? It's called an ANALOG clock.   It's time to learn about TIME!

Clock Clipart Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock
If you have a clock with hands in your house, maybe Mom or Dad could take it down for a little while and practice telling time to the hour and half hour. If you don't, log in to Prodigy and you will find 2 assignments for you to work on between now and next Monday. The first one is just practice with skip counting by 2,5,10 and 25 (forward and backward to 100 and 200). The second assignment is starting to learn about TIME and reading a clock.

Keep working on finding 5 facts about something that you wonder about and write them down to share at our next ZOOM on Tuesday. Thank you to Jax and Kathy for sharing their information today about Tiger Sharks and kittens.

I loved your Crazy Hair today! AND... you did AMAZING with the Scavenger Hunt! Congratulations to Josie and Merrick who tied with 25 points each!

Be sure to do your Read to an Adult today and try to finish your sh words from Tuesday. If you're done those ones, see if you can do the same thing with ch words.

10 words that start with ch (checkers)

10 words that end with ch (beach)

5 words that have ch in the middle (munching)
