Do you ever wonder about things in the world? Do you wonder about certain animals...or planets ...or places ...or people from other countries? Do you wonder about tornadoes ...or different languages ...or food from other cultures? Do you wonder about sea creatures ...or musical instruments ...or how rainbows are made?
SO DO I!! And I think we should do some learning about those things!
Today I would like you to find a non-fiction (information) book, a Mystery Doug video or something on National Geographic for Kids to read/watch. The first time through, just listen or read. THEN... go through it again but this time find 4 or 5 interesting things to write down about your topic.
In your notebook, put your research topic at the top of the page neatly. In a good sentence, write your first fact. Start with a capital, end with a period and spell as well as you can. Go on to your second fact that you learned and do the same. Continue for 2 or 3 more sentences.
Example:
CANADA
1. There are 10 provinces and 3 territories in Canada.
2. The 3 oceans that touch Canada are the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic.
3. In Canada we have snowy winters and hot summers.
4. Our leader is called the Prime Minister and his name is Justin Trudeau.
5. Canada is multicultural and we have many wonderful
people who live together here.
On Thursday, when we ZOOM at 11:00 instead of 10:00 this time only (with our PJs and Crazy Hair) I would love for you to share what you learned, like Lily did when she told us about Beavers last week. You can do a drawing too if you want to.
***REMEMBER TO READ to an ADULT TODAY and
tell them about the beginning, middle and end of the story and who the characters were. It's a great day for some Prodigy Math or Mathletics too!!
I saw this little video a few days ago and it reminded me of when our class sang this song 'Three Little BIrds' last fall. In this crazy time, when people might be missing their friends and cousins and grandparents... and school... remember "Every little thing is gonna be alright!"
