Wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday my Worker Bees!

I hope you all had fun doing the Scavenger Hunt(s) yesterday! Did anyone dALL FIVE??

The sunshine hasn't quite brightened up the sky yet today, but I'm sure it's coming! Try to do your Reading, Writing and Prodigy (or other math) early in the day so you can go out and play later when it gets warm outside! Time to get out your skipping ropes, soccer ball, trampoline skills and sidewalk chalk!

SOME COOL IDEAS FOR SIDEWALK CHALK FUN!

Read to a grown-up EVERYDAY!

If you are already reading to someone each day, that's AWESOME!

If you're NOT, please ask a grown up to listen to you read for a little while each day. Give them your puppy dog eyes and tell them how important it is!

Daily reading is important for building lifelong readers. Children could read a book independently or choose to read it to a family member, stuffed animal or a pet. You might:
  • record your child's reading occasionally so that they can hear how smooth they sound
  • use a book your child knows and loves
  • encourage your child to use the reading strategies they have been learning in school

See the last page for more ideas  about reading with your child.

Mix it up! Provide some choice for your child. Whenever possible, children might pick:
  • from books, online books, magazines, poems, etc.
  • from books about things they like
  • from books they can read comfortably
  • who they will read to that day
  • a book they know and love, to practice reading smoothly
